A few facts about me

My real name is Mary Ann. My mother was a teacher and had a student once named Mary Ann and loved the name and I also have a great-great grandmother named Mary Ann. (I said these were facts about me, but at the moment I can’t think how many greats that would be). It bugs me when people call me Mary after I introduce myself as Mary Ann or when I email them and sign as Mary Ann.

I grew up in small town Iowa, I went to Iowa State University and got a degree in elementary education, but never taught. I was married for 26 &1/2 years and then was divorced. I have 3 children — Suzanne, David, and Debra. I have 3 children-in-law (is that a word?) — Mark, Stefanie, and Matt. I have 6 grandchildren — Will, Joe, Sofia, Dylan, Colin, and Hannah. All 12 of these people are exceptionally bright and beautiful.

My mother called me Middy Jane when I was little and still does occasionally. Middy was short for Midget.

I work full time for a food distributor doing accounts payable. I love to visit my children and grandchildren, read, quilt, knit, and watch movies.

welcome to the blogworld! I love your grand’s pictures..none here yet. I came to visit your blog because Suzanne said PLEASE so nicely! I love Terry Atkinson’s designs too. She and Judy Martin write patterns the way my mind works!

Hi, Mary Ann! What fun to have you join us with a blog! I love the shrug and cap that you knitted for Hannah, even if she did squawk about it a bit. I look forward to seeing more of your lovely knitting!

This site has inspired me, which I needed badly today. Beautiful color and I love the design. Thanks for getting me going on a Monday morning!

    hi mary ann!

just bopped by to tell you that i totally hear ya on the name calling thing…that happens to me too! i hate when my name gets chopped off to just “mary”…except my parents will call me “mary” on occasion; my dad even calls me “ann” or “me-ann” (the latter was supposedly what i used to say when i was a little little one)…but heck, they are my parents & they can call me whatever they want, hehehe! they also have been known to call me “firstborn”, which is what i sometimes go by as my online alias. anyhoo, it’s always nice to run into another mary ann (& it’s spelled the right way, lol! ok just jokin)… thanks for stumbling on my lil bloggy. loved the pink lace socks you’re knitting!

thanks too for signing up in the vintage prom dress draw.

    🙂 mary ann

I like your web site, Mary Ann. Thanks for sharing your photos.
    Congratulations on the store opening!

I would like to take this opportunity to share with fellow bloggers a special gift I received this past spring. Mary Ann presented me with a pair of knitted
socks she had knitted herself. They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. They feel luxurious on my feet. A perfect fit. Mary Ann’s knitting is flawless. I will always cherish my socks.
