1st sock of the new year

0022Golly, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. I finished this sock today and thought I’d take a photo to share. Opal yarn, Rendez-vous, #2062. Size 1 dpns, garter rib. This pair will be for my sister. She picked out the yarn. I was surprised at her choice. I love the yarn, but it’s more colorful than I would have picked for her. People surprise you some times, don’t they? I just love knitting socks, have I mentioned that before. They’re highly portable, they take a while to make, but I’m getting faster and the time is not unreasonable. There’s so much to the structure that they’re not boring. Well the leg and foot can be a little boring, but I keep measuring my progress. I love sock yarns, so many choices. I love wearing hand knit socks and I love giving them to people who like to wear them. I’m really pleased with how this sock has turned out. The cuff, heel and toe look gray, but it’s a green gray. I think it’s very interesting that that green gray with the orange fell at the cuff, the heel and the toe. I’ll start casting on the next sock at the same place in the yarn’s color sequence as this one, so they should match each other.

well hey, if you love knitting socks, I’d love a pair 🙂 i keep telling my friends here (that knit really well – both have made hats for darren) that i am going to start knitting. i have yarn and needles and even a book but i just can’t seem to get it. that’s why i thought sewing machine stuff might be a little easier for me. oh well, i will try again soon.
